Remedies for Sore Throat

Saltwater gargle:

Mix 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces of warm water and gargle with it for 30 seconds before spitting it out. Repeat this several times a day to help reduce inflammation and ease soreness.

Honey and lemon tea:

Add a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of lemon juice to a cup of hot water and stir well. Sip this tea slowly throughout the day to soothe your throat.

Ginger tea:

Boil a few slices of fresh ginger in water for 10 minutes, strain it and add honey and lemon juice to taste. Drink this tea several times a day to help reduce inflammation and ease soreness.

Steam inhalation:

Boil water in a pot and add a few drops of essential oil, such as eucalyptus or peppermint oil. Drape a towel over your head and breathe in the steam for 5 to 10 minutes. This can help ease congestion and soothe your throat.

Marshmallow root tea:

Steep a teaspoon of dried marshmallow root in a cup of hot water for 10 to 15 minutes, strain it and drink the tea. Marshmallow root contains mucilage, which can help coat and soothe the throat.

Apple cider vinegar:

Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 1 tablespoon of honey in a cup of warm water and drink it slowly. Apple cider vinegar has antimicrobial properties that can help kill bacteria and viruses.

Turmeric milk:

Mix a teaspoon of turmeric powder in a cup of warm milk and add honey to taste. Drink this before bedtime to help reduce inflammation and soothe your throat.
